Influence of liquid additives on waste cooking oil biodiesel-isopropanol blend operated in CI engine

2020
Abstract Liquid additives are influencing the performance and emission characteristics of an engine. In this work, a high-performance fluid blend with the constitutes as 60% Diesel + 20%Waste Cooking Oil Biodiesel + 20% Propanol is prepared. Liquid additives namely Ethylene diamine (EDA), Diethyl ether (DEE) are added as additives to the blend in a proportion of 4% and 6% respectively. Total five blends were prepared for testing and their properties were measured according to ASTM Standards. The experiment is conducted on four stroke single cylinder CI engine. From the results, it can be revealed that the prepared blend without liquid additives showing better performance along with 6% of DEE blended fuel. Both these blends show lesser NOx emissions also. Ethylene diamine blended fuel shows reduced carbon emissions.
