Polypropylene fiber with mosquito repelling function

2002
The polypropylene fiber with mosquito repelling function is produced with polypropylene and mosquito repellant through mixing, melt pelletizing and melt spinning. The fiber contains mosquito repellant of the amount of 1.0-30 wt% selected from dimethyl phthalate, benzethazet acetofenate, methothrin or their mixture. The fiber may be pre-oriented POY fiber of filament fibrousness 1.0-4.0 dtex, further processed drafted DT fiber or stretch DTY fiber of filament fibrousness 0.5-3.0 dtex, or short staple of filament fibrousness 1.0-4.0 dtex. Compared with available technology, the present invention is superior in that the mosquito repellant is distributed homogeneously inside the fiber, rather than on the surface, and thus is wash resistant.
