Self-collimation and slow light in one-dimensional quasi-periodic structures containing single negative materials
2014
Abstract The electromagnetic tunneling properties of one-dimensional (1D) quasi-periodic structures consisting of two kinds of single-negative materials with disorder are theoretically studied. It is shown that the quasi-periodic structure possesses a complete tunneling mode when the general zero average permittivity and zero average permeability conditions are satisfied. At the tunneling frequency, self-collimation and slow light properties are found; the disorder type does not affect the self-collimation property, but the slow light and the electromagnetic localization property can be adjusted by changing the thickness fluctuation.
