Dysprosium doped strontium aluminate dusting powder: sweat pores visualization and white LED component

2021
Abstract Dysprosium substituted strontium aluminate (1 - 9 mol %) powders were prepared through the solution combustion process using Aloe Vera plant extract as a surfactant/fuel. Photometric properties were elucidated for the compounds which were excited in the UV light region. The structural studies confirm the formation of single monoclinic structure of SrAl2O4 and Dy3+ ions substituted most of the Sr2+ cationic sites. Up to 5 mol % of Dy3+ the photoluminescence intensity increased, later its started decreasing due to concentration quenching as dominated by dipole-dipole interactions. Optical properties specify that the compounds were suitable as a luminescent material for WLEDs, display devices etc. These powders were further used for the latent fingerprint visualization where the sweat pores (Level III) were observed clearly.
