NAND flash memory controller for image flash array in space

2012
This paper proposes an NAND flash memory controller for image flash array in space.First,a deep analysis of the need of image memory for space camera is presented. And the stucture characteristics of flash controller are presented. Then the principle of data error for flash data storage is analyzed in this paper.A flash correcting algorithm based on Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem(BCH)(2108,2048,5)code is put forward according to the structural characteristics of flash. Then an 8-bit parallel butterfly array processing mechanism is proposed based on the improved BCH encoder. Finally, the verification experiments for NAND controller in the prototype machine of XX-X space multi-spectral camera are carried out.The experimental results show that the proposed controller can operate fast, efficiently, reliably, and stably. The proposed error correction algorithm is able to correct 40 bit errors in 2 kbit/page.When the line frequency of space camera in a normal working condition is 2.5 kHz,the writing speed of four-stage pipeline flash can reach 133 Mbit/s.The controller can satisfy the space camera data storage requirements of reliability.
