Seeking for the Value of Life:Osman——An Interpretation of Orhan Pamuk's New Life

Orhan Pamuk,the winner of 2006 Nobel Prize in Literature,is a renowned international Turkish author.Tainted with magical realistic color,the main character in his newly creation,New Life,took on both a metaphorical and symbolic meanings.Seeking for the value of life by New Life's main character,Osman,is set up as the clue of this paper.Combined with this clue,an interpretation of three pairs of issues,such as the value of life and love,the value of life and the cultural identity,and the value of life and the ethnic memory are used to analyse the rich meaning carried by the main character Osman in New Life.
