Selective Oxidation of Methanol on Fe-Mo-W Catalysts.

Abstract The preparation and catalytic properties of mixed Fe–Mo–W catalyst toward methanol oxidation are investigated. Mossbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and chemical studies revealed the formation of two types of solid solutions with compositions Fe 2 (Mo x W 1− x O 4 ) 3 and (Mo x W 1− x )O 3 . The solid solutions formed are characterized by high activity and selectivity upon methanol oxidation and are of interest in view of their practical application.
