Numerical evaluation of the lightning currents flowing through aircrafts fasteners – Comparison and cross-validation of methods

The evolution of fuel tank regulation requires new justifications related to the prevention of ignition sources within fuel tanks in case of a lightning event. Several approaches, aiming at predicting currents induced in the fuselage assemblies of an aircraft with time FDTD simulation method, are presented. The aim of this work is to compare these methods for the fasteners current computation and assess their compatibility with industrial processes and data.
