Radiation Effects on Poly(cyclohexane carbonate)
2008
For the first time, the effects of γ-rays radiation ( 60 Co) on poly(cyclohexane carbonate) in air and N 2 atmosphere were investigated. The analysis of the molecular weights and molecular structure of the irradiated samples indicated that chain-scission reactions occurred, whereas cross-linking reactions were absent during the radiation procedure. From the number-average molecular weight (M n ) data of the irradiated samples, the radiation chemical yields G (s) were calculated to be 2.0 scission/ 100eV in air and 1.1 scission/100eV in N 2 . The mechanism of the irradiated degradation reaction was also discussed.
