The machining of castings is usually made by CNC machines using sophisticated equipment. One of the most delicate manufacturing procedures is the making of the vertical bores hat allow the passage of the cooling air. The article discusses the two main fields for the development of moulds: the possibility of reducing, if not eliminating, swabbing and the reduction in the weight of the glass container as a result of mathematical models that predict the internal temperatures of the surface of the moulds.
