Vibration characteristics of buildings aiming at reduction of environmental vibrations and earthquake motions

2021
This paper discuss the "foundation substitution construction method" which uses foam resin materials in constructing building foundations which take into account of the effect of environmental vibration as well as earthquake energy input. The foam resin materials are installed at the foundation level, or next to the foundation, creating a subsurface level below the foundation. The foam resin ground materials are arranged according to targeted performance of buildings. The purpose and effect of the proposed construction method is to achieve the reduction of vibration and earthquake energy, as well as an equilibrium of weight distribution (reduction of the subterranean stress generated by the construction of the building), foundation heat insulation of the lower foundation, as well as to protect against frost damage and other factors. This method is applicable to wooden framed houses, steel framed buildings, as well as reinforced concrete buildings.
