Exploring the Role of Sport in Michel Foucault's Disciplinary Society and Contemporary Management Society

The purpose of this study is to deploy related discussions and study with respect to the role of sport in Foucault’s disciplinary society and contemporary management society. To achieve the study objective, first, the role of sport was reviewed in disciplinary society and management society. Next, it was deployed related discussions after being compared and analyzed. The study results and the conclusion can be divided into two parts. First, the role of sport in disciplinary society was power guardian, mediator and shared ideological values. And the role of sport in management society was derived management tools, social response mechanisms and social strengthen ties. Next, the results which were compared and analyzed the role of sport in disciplinary society and management society were derived similarities, differences and relationships. The similarities were as follows: means of dialogue and communication with society, and tools to manage community members. It was the differences that the role of sport was transformed into independent role in leading social change in management society after it was carried out passive role in disciplinary society. And it was the relationships that the role of sport can be established mutual regression relationship between passive role and independent role at any time depending on social recognition level of sport’s value and necessity.
