Elastocaloric effect induced by the strain glass behavior of Ti-18Zr-11Nb-3Sn alloy covering a wide temperature range

2022
Abstract Here, an elastocaloric working temperature range of 200 K has been developed from Ti-18Zr-11Nb-3Sn alloy. The adiabatic temperature change of 6.5 K was obtained at 253 K. The strain glass transition regulated by the shuffling nanodomains was responsible for the elastocaloric effect. The moderate refrigeration capability together with unique phase transformation makes the Ti-based shape memory alloy a promising elastocaloric material.
