Impact of CO2 Discharge from Distilleries on Climate Changes: Key Facts

2021
Climate change due to the rapid release of carbon dioxide from distilleries may result in creating many drastic changes in the atmosphere such as floods, severe change in temperature that greatly affect human health. CO2 is an important Greenhouse gas is useful for the atmosphere when present at a concentration of up to 0.03% or 390 ppm, but due to rapid industrialization the exceeded level of CO2 in the atmosphere trapped the harmful radiation from the Sun and shutdown the Greenhouse window. The anthropogenic effects of CO2 on climate can be mitigated through various methods, among them, sequestration through geological media is more economical, and this technology has been developed for hydrocarbon production and exploration. Different geological methods such as Oil displacement in reservoirs, use of methane for sequestration of CO2 in coal beds, storage in depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs, and sequestration of CO2 through membrane technology (Nano-filtration and Reverse Osmosis) are the other useful methods.
