Unrecorded Areas on Tracks Recorded by Laminated Heads

H.Kobayashi, M.UraandT.Ozeki Abstract.The influence ofinsulating lay¬ ersinlaminated heads on theheadrecording pattern was investigated, using theBitter methodandcomputer simulations. Someun¬ recorded areasexist on recorded tracks, and thesecorrespond tothepositions ofinsulating areason thetrailing side. Anunrecorded area becomes wider asthemagnetomotive force is increased. Thesize ofan unrecorded areade¬ pends on theinsulator thickness andtheme¬ diacoercive force. Theseresults were confirmed bysimulations using thefinite ele¬ mentmethod.
