Discussion on 500 kV Triple-Circuit Transmission Line Design

In developed areas with narrow corridors,500 kV triple circuit lines,which use modified cup-shaped tower with double crossarms and triangular circuit configuration,can be considered.Through calculation,the maximum conductor surface electrical field strength,audible noise and radio interference,etc.,are all within current limitations.Triple ground wires and negative shielding angle scheme can be adopted because of high lightning resistance.Its transmission power is 7.3%~9.1% higher than that of 500 kV regular single circuit lines.However,the predictions still need to be validated through experiments.
