Accumulation of dry matter in sweetpotato storage roots after reciprocal grafts among 5 varieties with different flesh color.

2010
25 combinations were conducted through being reciprocal grafted among five sweetpotato varieties with different root flesh color.Five varieties were 'Yusu 162' with light orange root flesh,'2-19-99' with dark orange root flesh,'Yuzi 263' with light purple root flesh,'2-I19-43' with dark purple root flesh and 'Xushu 18' with white root flesh, respectively.Dry matter accumulation in 25 reciprocal grafting combinations during the developing stages after being grafted were analyzed. Results shows:(i)Accumunations of dry matter after being reciprocal grafted were effected by stocks, scions, developing stages of combination and theirs interactions together. The photosynthate distributed to the tops and tuber roots had significant correlations(P≤0.01) with the dry matter accumulation in storage roots.(ii)For the most of combinations after grafted, there were negative influences on the transportation of the photosynthate allocating to storage roots, compared with the non-grafted plant(CK1).But the dry matter accumulation had significant(P≤0.05) increase for few grafting combination in specifically developing stage.(iii)The variations of dry matter accumulation of the same flesh color type of stock in response to the other 2 type of flesh color scions were different, and the variations of dry matter accumulation of the same fleshcolor type of scion in response to the other 2 type of fleshcolor stocks were also different, compared with CK2(the stock and scion were the same genotype).
