Comparison test of early maturing mung bean varieties suitable for intercropping with sugarcane

【Objective】High-yield, early maturing, and adaptable mung bean varieties with uniform pods were screened out to provide references for sugarcane intercropping. 【Method】With Zhonglu 1 as the control, Zhenglu 8, Zhenglu 9, Jilu11 and Baolu 942 imported from Henan and Hebei were tested regarding growth characteristics, agronomic traits, resistance, and yield. 【Result】The four tested varieties all matured earlier than the control, while their yield was similar. They were dwarf, and had good lodging resistance and adaptability. 【Conclusion】Among the four tested varieties, Zhenglu 8had the best integrated traits becouse of its strong stem, uniform pods, anti-lodging and high mung bean and biological yield. Hence, it was proper for intercropping with sugarcane.
