5G Hetrogeneous Cellular Networks a Viable Mode for Implementing Future Smart Grid Networks

2017
The recruitment of optimum viable and parsimoniously viable communication technology for smart grid network has become a burning discussion. One of the best proposed configuration for future smart grid networks is the 5G Heterogeneous Cellular Networks technology. The prime hassles of smart grid networks can be branded in two sectors. The prime sector comprises of uninterrupted connectivity between the utility billing department and consumer premises known as Home Area Network (HAN). Second sector comprises of uninterrupted connectivity between the Power generation facility and utility power control distribution centre. Formerly the practice of Power Line Communication (PLC) was recommended between two sectors. Principal commissioning price and 99.999% communication accessibility in natural disasters are key shortcomings of Power Line Communication. Authors in this study have proposed the use of 5G Heterogeneous Cellular Networks in the both sectors. In the first sector, femto base stations in small cells will be deployed at the locations of utility billing department and consumer premises for the exchange of data traffic in between them through their parent macro cells. In second sector Macro base stations with large macro cells will be deployed at the locations of Power generation facility and utility power control distribution centre for the exchange of data traffic in between them. For inter and intra site connectivity and sharing of geographical information between macro cells and small cells deployed in both sectors, VAT satellite communication and microwave backhaul transmission will be used for interconnectivity between cell sites. Therefore we can adopt 5G Heterogenous Cellular Networks to craft a future smart grid green communication networks with cost-effective, reliability and proficiency to fulfill consumer real time demands.
