ETHICS AND INTEGRITY IN THE PRODUCTION OF SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE

The scientific field is permeated by competition and rivalry, especially in communities where the scientific and technological development has reached high levels. In this environment, funding becomes increasingly restricted, and the researchers end up being covered under his scientific reputation, the number of articles published in journals considered high-level one of the main parameters for evaluation. Given this scenario, the objective is to contribute to the current discussion about the integrity in the production of knowledge in S & T, with a reflection on the role of scientific communication as an essential part of the development of science. Then, from the perspective of Mertonian sociology of science, presents some of the key settings that are considered misconduct in academic knowledge production.
