A study of the head materials used in magnetic tape recording

Abstract Based on the ternary Ni-Fe-Nb alloy, with an addition of various weight percentages of Al and about 2 wt% of Mo, the dc and ac magnetic properties of a number of alloys after various heat treatments are investigated. Besides, optimum magnetic properties, higher electric resistivity and mechanical hardness and good workability are attained simultaneously. The role of the A1 stoms placed in the alloy has also bee considered.
