A novel wide-band dual-polarization compound array antenna with a low profile for WLAN systems

2012
A novel compound array antenna formed by many different kinds of printed radiating patches with different feeding method is proposed and manufactured. These corner radiation patches can operate in dual line polarizations. Some of these patches are fed directionally and the others are electromagnetically coupling between the patches and feeding microstrip-line. By properly designing the different configurations of the radiating patches and their feeding line, not only the desired radiation pattern of the array antenna but also a wide impedance bandwidth can be achieved. The height of the designed array antenna is less than 0.06 wavelength of center frequency and its relative impedance bandwidth (VSWR<1.5) and radiation pattern bandwidth exceed 23% and 17% respectively.
