Research on the Frequency Coexistence of 24 GHz Millimeter Wave Radar and 5G Communication

2021
Two key components of the future intelligent connected vehicle, "millimeter wave radar" and "5G communication" are studied in the paper and the coexistence of the above on-board systems working in adjacent frequencies is analyzed. Through theoretical analysis, the n258 frequency band (24.25 GHz-27.5 GHz) in the 5G millimeter wave band is most likely to interfere with the millimeter wave radar. So its interaction with the narrowband millimeter wave radar (24.00 GHz-24.25 GHz) is studied. By establishing the test platform, this kind of frequency coexistence test is realized for the first time. The research results show that the performance of 24 GHz millimeter wave radar will be affected by 5G communication in the adjacent frequency band, and it is necessary to provide certain bandwidth spectrum isolation for the two wireless services. The research is supported by the State Monitoring Center, and the research results will serve as supporting materials for the domestic 5G frequency band planning.
