Dinámica política y mecanismos jurídicos del acaparamiento de tierras en Brasil

2020
This chapter investigates the political and legal contexts of land grabbing –“acaparamiento de tierras” in Spanish-, as an instrument of access and control by foreign individuals and legal entities and the impacts of this phenomenon on the dynamics of the Brazilian rural sector. The backdrop takes into account historical struggles for agrarian reform, food security and sovereignty, which remain active and are spaces of resistance. From a brief historical review of the legislation and the global context of land claims, the objective is to analyze and discuss the institutional environment in which foreignization is being deployed, emphasizing political and legal aspects that allow a critical analysis of the phenomenon in Brazil.
