WATER QUALITY OF DIFFERENT FRESHWATER ECOSYSTEMS IN BALKAN CAMPUS OF TRAKYA UNIVERSITY (EDIRNE, TURKEY)

The aim of this study was to evaluate the lotic (Gullapoglu Stream), lentic (Artificial Pond) and groundwater (Gullapoglu Well) quality of Balkan Arboretum Area located in the Balkan Campus of Trakya University. For this purpose, water samples were collected monthly from five stations between the dates of June 2013 – October 2013. Total of 9 water quality parameters including dissolved oxygen, temperature, conductivity, pH, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, sulphate and cyanide were investigated. Results were evaluated according to the criteria of SKKY (Water Pollution Control Regulation in Turkey) and evaluated as drinking water according to the criteria of TS266 (Turkish Standards Institute), EC (European Communities) and WHO (World Health Organization).
