Survey of Specification Explanations about the Risk of Data Handling in Cloud Translation Services

2020
Frequently, a service specification cannot be understood by the service's users, especially when its function is highly complicated or specialized. This condition is referred to as hidden specification, and service users may be information poor relative to the target specification. This incomprehension makes it difficult for users to use the service properly. The problem caused by such information asymmetry also exists on the service providers' side, i.e., proper specification explanations are required to allow users to understand the value of hidden costs to improve service quality. Therefore, specification explanations that allow users to understand the service effectively is a benefit to both parties. In this paper, from the perspective of the importance of explaining specifications related to risks associated with data handling in IT services, cased are intended for information poor general consumers use cloud translation services. We compared multiple services and verified the explanations about how to handle information input by users by investigating the terms of use and related documents. We found that is impossible to explain the specification using only the current terms of use and related documents; thus, we propose an information traceability method to explain information handling in cloud services.
