Study of the Quasi-Free Reaction Mechanism in the {sup 6}Li({sup 12}C,{alpha}{sup 12}C){sup 2}H Reaction: Astrophysical Implications

2000
The Trojan-Horse method has been applied to the {sup 6}Li({sup 12}C,{alpha}{sup 12}C){sup 2}H reaction at 18 MeV in order to study the two body {alpha}-{sup 12}C interaction around the Coulomb barrier. Concidence spectra show clear evidence of the quasi-free {alpha}-{sup 12}C scattering, in good agreement with calculations performed in the framework of the Plane Wave Born Approximation. The virtual excitation function of the {alpha}-{sup 12}C elastic scattering has been extracted and compared with the behavior of the free scattering cross section.
