The objective of the project focused on, during 2014, consolidating a space for reflection, research and training for the Environmental Management of cultural routes -GEA-itineraries in Latin America, in order to generate knowledge and tools that will promote their protection, enhancement and development. Also, to build a network of universities and organizations interested in the discussion, interpretation and dissemination of sound practices in relation to this issueUp to this point, we have achieved the following results: we have created a network called the Environment and Culture Network - REAC, calling upon researchers, specialists and techniciansfrom universities and government agencies in Argentina (UADER and National Parks Administration– APN), Brazil (Universidad Federal de Santa Maria) and Uruguay (Universidad de la Republica).The first item of reflection within the Network regarding “Identifying and enhancing natural,cultural and landscape heritage in sustainable cultural itineraries and circuit proposals”, has focusedon cultural routes design criteria, considering them in light of the ICOMOS (2008) guidelinesand typologies in their spatial and cultural dimensions, their objective, duration, structural shapeand natural framework. The implementation of the itinerary as a culturally sustainable tourismproduct was also evaluated.Another outcome of the project has been approved for publication in the international journal“STEPS - Tourism and Cultural Heritage” at the University of La Laguna, Spain, that seeks torecount the experience developed by the team to develop a proposal for cultural tourism circuit, Uruguay river Corridor (Entre Rios, Argentina ), integrating the results of interdisciplinary studiesin historical documents and archaeological sites of the Guarani - Hispanic, during the localitieslocalities San Jose, Ubajay and Puerto Yerua, selected in the first stage of research within this corridorlocations.
