Implication of Amartya Sen's Capability Approach in Education Development Cooperation

This paper explains Amartya Sen’s Capability Approach with educational perspectives to draw philosophical implications for better understanding of ‘well-being’ and the role of education in human development. Some educators have criticized how development has been measured with heavy emphasis of economic values and fail to contain diverse aspects and dynamics of human life. In this paper, the role of education in Sen’s Capability Approach is explained through key concepts of the capability approach and the implications of the Approach is discussed in relation to the field of education development cooperation.
