The crystal structure of platinum(IV) diphosphate
1981
Abstract Platinum(IV) diphosphate (PtP 2 O 7 ) is monoclinic with a 0 = 7.095(2) A , b 0 = 7.883(2) A , c 0 = 9.302(3) A , β = 111.37(3)° and Z = 4; it crystallizes in space group P 2 1 / n . The crystal structure was determined using photographically recorded intensities of 646 independent reflections and was refined to R = 0.101. Two [PO 4 ] tetrahedra are linked to an almost eclipsed diphosphate group [P 2 O 7 ] with a P-O-P angle of 132.4(12)°. Two crystallographically non-equivalent platinum atoms form slightly distorted centrosymmetric [PtO 6 ] octahedra with mean Pt-O distances of 1.98(2) and 2.01(2) A.
