A transformer isolated AC to DC switch-mode power converter with resistive input current

1988
Switch-mode power conditioning circuits which provide regulated DC output power from utility AC input power while drawing resistive (or sinusoidal) input current have been developed for applications where harmonic current generation in the utility distribution and generation system must be minimized. The authors describe and analyze a switch-mode power conditioner which produces a 200 VDC output at 450 Watts from a 120 VAC (60 Hz to 40 Hz) power source while drawing resistive input current. A single switch-mode power processing stage is used which contains a transformer for input-output isolation and which operates in a continuous conduction mode. >
