Cancer morbidity in the seveso area, 1976-1986

Abstract The follow-up, 1976–1986, of the population living in the area contaminated by 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo- p -dioxin (TCDD) after the Seveso, Italy, accident revealed an increased incidence for the following cancer sites: soft tissue sarcoma, hepatobiliary tract, certain hematologic neoplasms. The association with TCDD exposure needs further investigation.
