PCR detection of sugarcane ratoon stunting disease pathogen in Guangxi

The aim of this work was to investigate the application of PCR detection in ratoon stunting disease (RSD)of sugarcane.A large number of samples from various cane regions in Guangxi were detected.The results showed that mainly planting varieties from different cane regions were positive for RSD,and most of varieties introduced or bred at home were also positive,but healthy seedcanes through heat treatment or tissue culture were negative.It was concluded that PCR technology was specific,sensitive and rapid.
