Gravity program of Hawaii Institute of Geophysics in Pacific area

1965
The Hawaii Institute of Geophysics is currently engaged in three gravity programs in the Pacific area, a study of the Hawaiian Ridge, the Solomon Islands, and Samoa. The Institute is also participating in the Air Force Cambridge Research Center sponsored international pendulum gravity standardisation program. In two cases the Institute gravity program forms part of a broader program that is being shared by other agencies. On the Hawaiian Ridge the collaborating agencies are the U. S. Geological Survey and the U. S. Coast and Geodetic Survey. In the Solomon Island area, they are the Solomon Island Geological Survey, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Queensland, and the Army Map Service (Far East).
