2019
Immigrant labors play a vigorous role in the development of a country. However, settlement of these immigrants labor is one of the prodigious challenges for a host country. Malaysia is encouraging the inflow of immigrant labors to accomplish numerous problems such as shortages of labor, high training costs and operation costs. On the other hand, Pakistan is a second-largest country who is sending labor annually to other countries. Pakistani labor prefers to immigrate to Malaysia because of its higher GDP per capita and Muslim majority population. To date, some of the studies described the issues of immigrant’s intentions. But there is little analysis on settlement of immigrants and their factors especially in the context of Pakistani immigrant labor in Malaysia. This paper described several factors of settlement of im migrant labors with the objective of designing a conceptual framework for furture study. The literature review highlighted three main factors of settlement (employment, housing, social network) which should be considered while providing a way for service and programming facilities for new immigrant labors. The conceptual framework on settlement of immigrant labors may provide valued direction to the administration of the country about improvements and changes that are compulsory to ease the settlement of immigrant labors in the host countries. Also, this will ensure effective execution of immigration settlement policies to attain its goal.
