Investigating the relationship between work-family conflict with job satisfaction and burnout among public librarians in Ilam

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between work-family conflict with job satisfaction and burnout among the public librarians in Ilam.Method: The participants in this study included the whole staff of public libraries in Ilam. 89 participants were selected thorough Cochran formula as the stratified random sampling method. To collect data, the NeteMeyer Work-Family Conflict Questionnaire(WFC), Maslach and Jackson Burnout Questionnaire, and Linz Job Satisfaction Questionnaire are used. For analyzing data correlation coefficient, multiple linear regression and independent T-test are used.Findings: The findings showed that there was a significant relationship between work-family conflict (work-family and family-work) with job satisfaction and burnout. It was further revealed that there was no significant difference between work-family conflict (work-family and family-work) in two different groups of men and women.Conclusion: The findings can be useful for providing a suitable situation in the workplace with the aim of improving work-family conflict, increasing job satisfaction, and reducing burnout among public librarians. Also, it can help the librarians employed based on their talent and ability and managers’ attention by providing facilities at the workplace which enhance the social image of librarians and improve their staffing status.Keywords: Work-Family Conflict, Burnout, Job Satisfaction, Ilam Public Library
