Load Balancing and Its Challenges in Cloud Computing: A Review

Cloud computing is a cutting-edge state-of-the-art technology and is the most widely resource benefitted process to utilize the available machine power in a cost-efficient yet balanced manner. Balancing as well as dividing of the available potential among the users, demanding the capacity share to perform various computation tasks as per the necessities involved is a cumbersome process to deal with and is of utmost importance as well, when there is limited availability and the demand is ever increasing. In response to meet these user requests in a balanced manner, adjusting of the load needs to be done in order to balance the available capacity among all the users. Load balancing is a necessity as well as an ability to counter the underloaded and overloaded cloud distribution phenomena which might cause systems to fail and further concerning the quality of service (QoS), throughput, reaction time, and other impending amenities being offered by the cloud service provider. Virtualization plays a key role in empowering the clients to gain, rearrange as well as be charged as per their consumption premise. Load balancing among various virtual machines (VMs) is substantial and imminent to deliver all the cloud resources and different services in a cost-efficient manner yet consuming lesser computing time and delivering exponential results. The objective of this review is to provide a comprehensive overview of the existing load balancing algorithms and their performance metrics along with the most common tools being used to achieve this scheme. This review also covers the various challenges involved to help specialists by giving an understanding of potential future improvements by stating the various challenges involved in achieving those refined implementations.
