Optimal energy management in public buildings using mixed-integer linear programming

2020
European Union has revised the regulations and implemented a number of measures, all with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the efficiency of buildings. In order to achieve the desired goals, it is necessary to combine conventional energy sources with renewables. In this way, it is possible to increase efficiency and reduce harmful consequences, especially for large electricity consumers, such as public buildings. However, in addition to all the benefits of distributed energy sources, there are many difficulties that must be addressed, such as optimal control of the energy sources. The paper presents the mixed-integer linear programming method, which is used on an example of the public building with integrated RES systems, in order to optimize electricity consumption.
