A Re-Viewing of Thymocyte Differentiation

Historically, murine thymocyte differentiation has been studied by a series of different technologies that allowed assessment of cell migration by chromosome markers, of lymphoid regeneration events with radiation and drugs such as cortisone, and of differentiation by lymphocyte cell surface antigens. The modern tools of monoclonal antibodies, congenic mouse strains, and flow cytometry analysis have permitted further sophisticated manipulation that was previously unattainable.
