Research progress on electrode panel materials for multi-gap resistive plate chamber

Multi-Gap Resistive Plate Chamber(MRPC) is a new type of gaseous detectors made with a combination of resistive plates.Such detector with simple structure possesses good time resolution,a high detection efficiency and a relative low cost.Structure and operation principle of MRPC are introduced.Research progress on the surface roughness,the volume resistivity and the hydrofluoric acid durability of electrode panel materials is analyzed.The applications of semi conductor glasses and ceramic materials in MRPC with high counting rates are described.Beam test results of MRPC prototypes with semiconductor glass developed in Beijing Glass Research Institute(BGRI) are presented.Future prospects of electrode panel materials for MRPC with high counting rates are also proposed.
