Analysis of boiler tube magnetization with thermal deformations

1998
A mathematical model for the magnetization of ferromagnetic metal structures experiencing mechanical stresses and heating is proposed. The object under study is assumed to be in the magnetic field of the Earth. The magnetic leakage field of a boiler tube operating with insufficient temperature compensation is analyzed in the full three-dimensional statement of the problem. The calculated profile of the magnetic leakage field near the tube surface is shown to be consistent with the results of field measurements. The possibility of using the proposed model for further development of the method of magnetic memory of a metal and for monitoring of the thermal-stressed state of pipelines is discussed.
