Optimised design for complexation capacity titrations
1999
AbstractThe conventional approach to the design of complexation capacity titrations - in which the titration frame is extended to several times the complexation capacity of the sample - may be suspect. Simulations of titrations indicate that a titration frame which encompasses most accurately the true complexation capacity (Clig) of the water concerned is a design which produces both the most precise and unbiased estimates of complexation capacity and ligand-metal complex stability constant. The optimum approach to complexation capacity titrations is to make a preliminary estimate of Clig (either from a trial titration or on the basis of prior knowledge) and to base the titration frame on this estimate.
