The Discovery of Industrial Lisbon: two distinct realities

The intangible heritage connected to various industries of Lisbon from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries is part of the city’s collective memory. Cultural tours constructed from the research on ancient skills and techniques of the old workers provide a direct link between the industrial heritage and the public. It is expected that the tours of industrial heritage on the axis between Alcântara (industrial community of Lisbon) and eastern city part (Xabregas-Olivais-Oriente) include visits to the old factories and workers’ neighborhood and museums resulting from the decommissioning of many of these plants.
