On the mechanism of angiotensin II induced release of prostacyclin

1981
Summary In anaesthetized cats three beta-adrenolytic drugs (propranolol, practolol, pindolol), two membrane active drugs (lidocaine and chlorpromazine) as well as phentolamine and atropine were studied from the point of view of their influence on A II-induced release of prostacyclin (PGI 2 ). Phentolamine, atropine and practolol were ineffective while the other four drugs inhibited A II-induced release of PGI 2 but not the pressor response to this peptide. It is postulated that the release of PGI 2 may be triggered by A II through a hypothetic endocrine receptor distinct from a receptor for the pressor action of A II.
