Malmberg, Bertil (1913–1994)

Bertil Malmberg, professor at the University of Lund, Sweden (1950–1978), a pioneer in phonetics and phonology, characterized the Swedish tone accents. He was much influenced by Saussure and Roman Jakobson and took a structural view of language. He published many works, also in language acquisition, semiotics, and the history of linguistics.
