A Computationally Efficient Scheme for FMCW Radar Detection and Parameter Estimation

2019
This paper presents a computationally efficient scheme for frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar detection and joint angle and frequency estimation in multiple-target scenario. The estimation of the target's parameters is based on the 2D-MUSIC method, and beamspace method is used to reduce the matrix dimension. Lagrangian multiplier method is applied to reduce the quadratic optimization problem in 2D-MUSIC to one-dimensional optimization after beamspace. Digital beam forming (DBF) algorithm is used to increase the probability of targets are detected and provide priori information for beamspace and spectral peak search. Finally, the simulation shows that our system has good performance in target detection ability, resolution ability, estimation accuracy and computational costs.
