The physical arrangement of industrial operations has a great influence on the process performance. The location of processing resources can compromise productivity, making the resources that have transformed take paths that increase processing costs and may jeopardize the term of order fulfillment. The present study aims to demonstrate that a good analysis of the activities referred to as media, allows gains regarding the distances and the presence of in-process inventories (WIP) of a production system on an industrial laundry. The main changes proposed in the study concern the reallocation of productive resources, which allowed reevaluate the paths followed by products during processing and release sites of general circulation, translating to the company as a reduction of time, cost and improvement of service.
