Deploying NetScreen Firewalls

This chapter discusses the initial configuration of the NetScreen firewall. The chapter also describes various methods to manage the firewall. It is important to understand each individual option. Each option is a different tool can be used to control the firewall. There are two core types of remote management, the WebUI and the CLI. This chapter also discusses configuring the NetScreen firewall to run on the network. Zones are a core part of the NetScreen security infrastructure. The security zone is the most commonly used zone. Each interface must be bound to a zone. All the types of interfaces that the firewall supports are discussed in the chapter. The physical interface is used on each type of NetScreen device to interact with the network. The firewall can operate in two modes, layer three and layer two. This chapter focuses on the layer three configuration of the device. Finally, the chapter describes the process of configuration of various system components.
