Die Akzentuierungseigenschaften des Reflexivpronomens sich in bezug auf seine Stellung im deutschen Satz

1998
In German, dative and accusative pronoun forms are used for the first and the second person reflexives, but the third person reflexive has its own form, namely sich. While the syntactic and semantic aspects of the reflexive sich have been exhaustively investigated, its accentual characteristics have been largely ignored. Although sich cannot be stressed in most cases, it can be stressed under special conditions. This paper is an investigation of the characteristics of the accent of sich when it appears in the accusative case, especially when used with the intensifying pronoun selbst. In addition, some particularities of sich in prepositional phrases are described. As there are in general close relationships between accent and the sentential positions of words the accentual characteristics of sich are also discussed in relation to its sentential position
