New RSSI-based Routing Protocol in Wireless Sensor Networks

This paper proposes a new routing protocol in wireless sensor networks by implementing the ranging technique in the routing procedure.The new routing protocol can effectively reduce the energy consumption of nodes in wireless sensor networks and the life of these networks can be significantly extended.We compared the new protocol with the well-known LEACH protocol through simulations on the NS2 platform.It was shown that the new protocol yields a longer network life and the new protocol can outperform the LEACH protocol in terms of the data-energy efficiency in the low network load situation.
